Do Banks compete with Brokers? Short answer is no, because brokers bring customers to Banks. While they pay commission to brokers, they get better clients, and pay commission after settlement. Their own mortgage managers get salary if they are successful or not. They are part of overheads, were brokers are only paid by results. Most important – client get same mortgage and fees if it is obtained through the branch or the broker.

In mortgage industry bank manager is limited to banks products.
Qualification for clients also vary from Bank to Bank. Bank manager can not always provide mortgage to client that my qualify somewhere else.
